Circuit de Moto d'Alméria (A10 Min)

For the amateurs of speed and adrenaline.

The Almeria racing circuit is situated beside the N-340a highway a few kilometres from Tabernas village. This fast and exhilarating circuit welcomes both cars and bikes, the 4.2km track is well laid out with 14 corners and a straight run of 900m, the circuit also places much emphasis on safety with large run off areas.
The viewing area, situated above the pits, extends to over 200 metres making it possible to see almost the entire circuit give or take a corner or two. Away from the pit area the onsite bar and restaurant also provides generous views of the course.

The caves of Sorbas (15 Min/car)

The Caves of Sorbas,  Cuevas de Sorbas, are located in the Gypsum Karst Natural Park of Sorbas, a landscape of surface and underground rock formations, which was declared a Natural Area of Protection 1989. 
The caves can be visited on guided excursions and offer a thrilling destination for a day trip in Almeria.

Mini-Hollywood in Tabernas
The province is famous for being the location for the recording of many of the Spaghetti Western films. The dry and arid landscapes of the Taberna Desert – the only desert in Europe, which is part of the National Park of the Sierra Nevada – were perfect set locations for the films of Sergio Leone. David Lean has also filmed some scenes in Tabernas, including the Oscar-winning film Lawrence of Arabia. In the village of Tabernas, you can visit the film locations. A nice idea for a day out is to visit the Mini-Hollywood theme park Oasys Parque where many of the old “Spaghetti Western” films were filmed. There are daily shows, a swimming pool, and a zoo. Mini-Hollywood is an area located in the desert of Tabernas. The unique, beautiful, and mysterious landscapes are the background of many historical legendary films. Near Oasys Parque is Fort Bravo, where several films are still being recorded. Fort Bravo is definitely worth a visit.

Parque Acuático (water park) in Vera

Andalusia is an area known for its ‘cavemen villages’ with houses in caves. There are a reasonable number of villages in the provinces of Almería and Granada that still have people living in cave houses.

 

Cabo de Gata – Nijar
East of the city of Almería is the natural and protected marine park, Cabo de Gata – Nijar, with its beautiful and rugged coastline. A large part of this coast has restricted access by car, so it is advisable to get there by foot. But it is definitely worth the experience, as the marine park is absolutely gorgeous. You can enjoy the crystal clear waters and the ideal remote coves, which are ideal for swimming and diving.

Cabo de Gata is an area of volcanic origin. It is also a protected National Park and the largest protected coastal area of Andalusia. The rugged mountain and rocky landscape of this area is isolated and is, geologically speaking, one of Europe’s most extraordinary landscapes. The mountain range Sierra de Gata is the largest volcanic rock formation in Spain, with sharp peaks and ocher colored cliffs (shell sand formations). On the coast, cliffs rise steeply from the sea. The sea has created some 100 meters high, angular, and jagged cliffs, which are split by ravines and gullies leading to remote coves with white sandy beaches. Off the coast are also numerous small, rocky islands and large coral reefs with a rich marine life.  

 

Skiing in Granada
The beautiful Sierra Nevada National Park extends into the Alpujarras of the province of Almería. It has a landscape full of white villages, protected and pristine forests, valleys, and snow-capped mountain peaks. This is an area that the Arabs (during their leadership) were greatly attached to. That is understandable, because the Almerian Alpujarras is a beautiful and compelling part of southern Spain. It is not to be compared to the bustle of the coastal areas, even though it is only a couple of hours away by car. The area is also an excellent place for outdoor activities: skiing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, horse riding, hiking, and plenty more. The Sierra Nevada mountains of Granada is an approximately 2 hours’ drive away from Villa Damara and the mountains offer excellent skiing opportunities from December up to and including April .
